Interested in creating a lasting legacy or the ultimate tribute? Consider creating a Named Award in honor of an individual/group, or making a tribute gift.
Make a Tribute Gift
We welcome any gift made in memory of, or in tribute to, a colleague, mentor, friend or family member. Here are two ways to make a tribute gift:
- Use our general donation form and check this box: "This gift is made in tribute to or in honor of someone (check box to see options)." Please include your tribute note and contact information along with your donation and we will notify the tribute on your behalf.
- Make a Named Award or Building Space Donation in honor of esteemed members and institutions. Review the Named Award Fundraising Packet for details then contact us to discuss your goals and how to get started.
Create a Named Award
The AFSH offers the following opportunities for various donation levels. Review the Named Award Fundraising packet and application for details on creating a named award in honor of someone special to you. Contact the AFSH at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a time to meet with the Named Award Oversight Committee to discuss your Named Award objective and fundraising goals.
Donation Level: Up to $24,999
Help support an existing fund that supports a current AFSH
program. This donation level is available for individuals or groups who wish to offer a one-time Named Award. Your gift will be recognized in honor of or in tribute to a person or institution.
For example your group could raise $20,000 in support of a named mission in support of the Touching Hands Project
Donation Level: $25,000 - $99,999
Establish a board designated fund to be used for a current AFSH
program. Total award amount is determined by the current spending policy of the AFSH
Board of Trustees. Award will be distributed over a set number of years (number is dependent on size of gift and desired award payout).
For example your group could raise $50,000 in support of a named Annual Meeting Travel Scholarship
. This award would be distributed annually for the next twenty-five years.
Donation Level: $100,000 - $199,999
Establish a board designated fund to be used for a current AFSH/ASSH program Total award amount is determined by the current spending policy of the AFSH
Board of Trustees. Named award will continue to be distributed for the life of the designated program. Certain limitations may apply.
For example your group could raise $150,000 to support a named Resident/Fellow Fast Track gran
t. Annual grant would be awarded for the life of the Fast Track grant program.
Donation Level: $200,000 +
Establish a board designated fund to be used to establish and support a new approved program for AFSH/ASSH. OR
- at this level you may also identify a named space in the Central Office.
This level may be right for you if you wish to establish a new program or if your desired award payout is greater than $10,000. All new programs require approval from ASSH
Council and the AFSH
Board of Trustees.
Board designated funds are unrestricted net assets designated by the AFSH Board for various activities. The designations are based on Board actions, which can be altered or revoked at a future time by the Board. Designated funds are a subset of the General Fund unless otherwise noted. Purposes are designated by the Board and are not donor restricted.
