Annual Meeting Traveling Scholarship Program

The AFSH/ASSH are proud to offer traveling scholarships to residents, fellows, and active duty military to attend the Adrian E. Flatt Residents and Fellows Conference and ASSH Annual Meeting.  Each $1,500 scholarship is intended to cover registration fees, airfare and lodging.  The scholarship program is funded by grants from the ASSH, AFSH, corporate donations, hand club gifts and individual donations. The Annual Meeting Traveling Scholarship Program began in 2008 and originally was open to residents, fellows and medical students.  In 2011, the program was expanded to include active duty military.

Each scholarship applicant also has the opportunity to be awarded one of our special scholarships, including:

    • The Daniel C. Riordan Award
    • The Vincent R. Hentz Scholarship

The Daniel C. Riordan Award was introduced in 2014 and recognizes a talented resident or fellow who has a sincere interest in teaching and patient care. The Hentz Scholarship is awarded to one plastic surgery resident or plastic hand fellow. Read more about these special scholarships below.
