Pay it Forward: Support the Green Mentorship Award Fund

April 17, 2017

Anyone who knows David P. Green, MD would agree that the accomplishment he is most proud of, is the success of his former fellows and others he has taught and mentored throughout the years.

Such selflessness deserves to be recognized, and it is with great pleasure that we began fundraising last year for the creation of the Green Mentorship Award, as a new named fund of the AFSH.  In creating this award, we hoped to accomplish two important goals: to honor a person who has given so much to hand surgery, who worked hard to spread knowledge and who invested in countless others, and in doing this, we also hope to honor and encourage others who have committed their careers to doing the same.

With this award, ASSH members will have the opportunity annually to nominate other hand surgeons who have demonstrated dedication to the personal and professional development of students, residents, fellows and junior colleagues.  Nominees will be vetted and the award winner chosen by committee.  Recipients will be announced every year at the ASSH Annual Meeting and will receive an honorarium in recognition of their mentorship.

To formally establish this award, a minimum of $200,000 must be raised.  We are nearly there and we need your help!  Please help us honor Dr. Green and others like him by donating today.  Donations can be made by check or credit card, by mail or online.  The donation will be processed by the AFSH and is tax-deductible.  Excess funds will go towards meeting other important educational initiatives.  Donate now.
