The Singapore Society for Hand Surgery (SSHS) is now accepting abstracts! Paper and poster abstracts will be accepted through November 30, 2017 through the SSHS website: http://www.sshs.sg/abstract-submission.html

On behalf of the organizing committee for the Singapore and American Hand Societies, we formally invite you to attend the 2nd Combined Meeting January 26-27, 2018 in Singapore.  The 1st Combined Meeting held in 2015 was highly successful and attracted participants both from the United States and the Asia-Pacific Rim, along with many other nations.  The main goal of this meeting is to foster recognition and support of hand surgery as a distinct specialty.  Over the course of this meeting, we hope to form new friendships and increase collegiality between the ASSH, SSHS, and other national societies.  All the speakers were chosen for their ability to impart creativity and energy on an array of innovative topics.  Talks have been designed around the theme of “Challenging Paradigms” in treating common conditions.

The SSHS has been active in providing education and training for hand surgeons over its entire history, and has been integral in providing service activities for the developing world.  The ASSH is excited to partner with the SSHS again in hosting the combined meeting in the idyllic country of Singapore.  Furthermore, we hope the participants will take advantage of easy travel to nearby destinations including Bali, Bangkok, Penang, Hong Kong, Taipei, and many other exciting cities in Asia.

Singapore provides a convenient, central location, that links the western world with Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.   Singapore is a multiethnic nation that showcase a wide array of cultural and social communities, ranging from Chinatown, Little India, Arab Street, themed attractions in Sentosa, and the futuristic Marina Bay.  Singapore is regularly listed as one of the top culinary destinations in the world.  In fact, a Michelin star was even awarded to a “hawker” street food stand!  Singapore’s signature is in its fusion cuisine and dishes, where you can find curries, regional delights from China, and the creative Nyonya cuisine, which is a blend of Malaysian and Chinese flavors and influences.

Join us for the 2nd Combined Meeting to foster new friendships, and gain a greater understanding of the wonderful cultural diversities that can be found in Singapore.

Sincerely,

Kevin C. Chung, MD, MS, ASSH
Anthony T.L. Foo, MD, SSHS
