The team wrapped up a fantastic trip with the second day at the conference. Graham Gumley gave a fantastic and inspirational lecture on outreach and the responsibilities of visiting teams and also the local surgeons in developing countries. In the afternoon, Dave Stewart, Nick Smith, Anne Wajon and Cathy Merry presented at the Surgical conference    A quick trip to the markets was followed by everyone making their way to the airport to conclude another fruitful, rewarding and enjoyable trip.

 Wrap Up:

Overall this was another fantastic trip, really recharging our batteries and rekindling our passion for hand surgery, medicine and therapy. We are very thankful for the opportunity to work with the local Khmer surgeons, residents and therapists, and to offer support for their ongoing education in orthopaedic and plastic surgery. It is truly an honour to work with such a great group of people, all having the same common goal of improving healthcare in Cambodia. It is a highlight of my year and something I won’t forget. I strongly recommend anyone who is considering undertaking an outreach trip, or supporting Touching Hands / Orthopaedic Outreach or any other organisation to do it.

A huge thank you to all the supporters of the trip – Synthes, Medartis, LMT surgical, Accumed for their kind donations, Singapore Airlines for their luggage allowance and to everyone who helped to make this trip possible. We look forward to another fruitful and rewarding trip next year.
