CAMBODIA: DAY 9

Source: Blog Post

The team spent the day at the 23rd Annual Cambodian Society for Surgery Conference. After an introductory morning of lectures, the group ran local residents and surgeons through various skills stations. Nick Smith demonstrated extensor tendon repair on pig’s trotters, David Graham took the flexor tendon repair station, while Damien Ryan tackled knot tying. Dave Stewart took microsurgical nerve and vessel repair and Anne Wajon / Cathy Merry handled the hand therapy section including therapy for tendon repair and also splinting and post-operative protocols and casting . The course was a great success and was well received. The Khmer surgeons and residents were very grateful for the opportunity to improve their surgical and therapy skills and to exchange ideas with the visiting team.

The team enjoyed dinner at Malis, recapping a fantastic week and preparing to return home.
