David P. Green Mentorship Award

The 2020 call for nominations will open in August of 2019.

This award was created in honor of David P. Green, MD, a selfless mentor.  In creating this award, we hope to accomplish two important goals: to honor a person who has given so much to hand surgery, worked hard to spread knowledge and invested in countless others, and in so doing, to honor and encourage others who have committed their careers to doing the same.

Call for Nominations (opens in august 2019)

You are invited to nominate an ASSH Active Member with a minimum of 10 years in practice for the 2020 Green Mentorship Award.  This person should have demonstrated dedication to the personal and professional development of students, residents, fellows and junior colleagues. Nominees will be vetted and the award winner selected by a committee composed of ASSH/AFSH Leadership and a representative from The Hand Center of San Antonio, where Dr. Green practices

The recipient will receive an award stipend of $2,500 in recognition of their mentorship.  The recipient will also be invited to present a mentoring instructional course at the 75th ASSH Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX.

Anyone may submit a nomination.  Nominees must be an ASSH "Active Member" with at least 10 years in practice.

Application includes space for the following:

  • Essay describing the nominees training background, current practice setting, and how the nominee has demonstrated a commitment to mentoring others.
