 Military Research Grants

The purpose of the Military Surgeon-Scientist Research Grant is to encourage military investigators by providing funding for research projects related to the field of upper extremity surgery.  It is anticipated that the funding will enable these investigators to initiate projects that will lead to additional funding. 

Applications are due April 2, 2012. Grants will be awarded to ASSH members who are on active duty military assignment and whose grant proposal has been submitted, reviewed, and accepted by the ASSH Research Management Committee. Grant awardees must complete the research project as described within the stated time period.  They must follow the budget that has been submitted, and submit a report at the end of the grant period.  In addition, the awardees must present their findings by either submitting an abstract for the ASSH Annual Meeting and/or presenting at the Basic Science/Clinical Investigators Workshop at the ASSH Annual Meeting. 


  1. The lead PI must be an active duty military hand surgeon for the duration of the research study.
  2. The research project must be in hand surgery as defined by the ASSH.
  3. Applicant must be an ASSH candidate or active member.
