The authors described a mini-open suture anchor technique for repair of ulnar-sided triangular fibrocartilage complex tears (TFCC). They had success with this technique in 8 cases and found the procedure easier to perform than previously described open or arthroscopic techniques.
The procedure described in this report appears useful in achieving solid repair of a traumatic ulnar-sided lesion. Surgeons must be familiar with other techniques as this operation is specific for ulnar-sided tears and will not address traumatic radial or palmar TFCC defects. It will also not be useful for the dorsoulnar tears where there remains integrity of the TFCC insertion at the fovea (ligamentum subcruetum).
