This is a retrospective analysis of 19 adult patients with either cubitus varus or valgus deformity. These patients underwent a dome osteotomy of the supracondylar humerus to correct the deformity.
The mean age at surgery was 31 years. The indications for surgery were cosmesis, limited range of motion, pain, and loss of motor power. The average correction for both cubitus varus and cubitus valgus was approximately 25-30 degrees with correction to 6-7 degrees.
Excellent result was achieved in 13 patients and good result was achieved in 6. The results of this study indicate that this procedure is simple, reliable, and not as technically demanding as previous procedures with excellent outcomes.
