The Hand Society is engaged in several important efforts to gather information about the detailed work and scope our members are involved in. The development of the following Market Research survey was led by Edward Diao, MD with input from our Corporate Advisory Council that included members of Council, the Foundation, and select corporate partners. It attempts to collect information about the frequency of hand conditions that are seen by ASSH members across the spectrum of their practices and across all the places our members practice. We hoped to learn more about treatments and conditions which are less than ideal and where innovation and new products might be helpful.
The results of this survey are being made available to sale to corporate partners so that some of these insufficiencies in treatment options currently being offered will be addressed. This survey was a collaborative effort to learn more about the field of hand and upper limb surgery and to bring more resources to those areas where current treatment options are not ideal.

- Survey was sent via SurveyMonkey in September 2010 to close to 1,900 ASSH Members who are currently practicing
- 32% response rate over two week period
- Total of 7 hand/upper extremity questions asked in addition to 4 demographic questions
- Frequency of conditions seen and satisfaction with treatment options asked of 34 hand and upper extremity conditions
- Over 300 individual comments collected regarding specifc areas of dissatisfaction with current treatment methods and issues/improvements members want to see
