Resident Educators Workshop

The Resident Educators Workshop is sponsored by the ASSH Resident Education Curriculum Task Force.
Resident education is an evolving process. This program will focus on educating residents in upper extremity surgery. The workshop will review the current principles critical to effective teaching and learning. We will be evaluating different teaching methods, curriculum development, and evaluation of residents’ skills and knowledge as well as the teaching program and methods. These techniques and strategies will be examined with participant interaction.
Objectives:
- Development of curriculum for resident education in upper extremity surgery
- Assess different approaches to teaching - readings, lectures/didactics, motor skills lab, anatomy/cadaver lab, video/web cast, review tests, and experiential learning
- Discuss evaluation methods to assess residents’ knowledge and skills as well as to assess the teaching program itself
This workshop will be moderated by David Bozentka, MD, Philadelphia, PA, and Dawn LaPorte, MD, Baltimore, MD.
