Deadline to submit: March 29, 2010
INVITATION
In the spirit of international cooperation, the ASSH has instituted the International Guest Hand Society program to recognize our global partners in the hand surgery community. On behalf of the ASSH Council and the 2010 ASSH Annual Meeting Program Committee we are pleased to announce that the Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand will be our honored guests at the 65th ASSH Annual Meeting. As an honoree, the Swedish Hand Society will be acknowledged in the opening ceremony and all attendees from Sweden will be invited to a private reception. Swedish Hand Society members are encouraged to submit abstracts for consideration in all categories of presentation but a special abstract submission site has been developed specifically to highlight those under consideration as a Scientific Poster. The ASSH International Relations Committee, chaired by Alexander Shin, MD will work closely with the Swedish Hand Society in developing all aspects of its program, including the featured International Guest Society posters. All Swedish Hand Society members will also receive a discounted registration fee to attend the 65th ASSH Annual Meeting.
INTERNATIONAL GUEST HAND SOCIETY POSTER ABSTRACTS
As a part of our International Guest Hand Society program the ASSH will feature a special poster section within the exhibit hall, highlighting scientific contributions from Swedish Society for Surgery of the Hand attendees. Up to 20 submissions will be accepted as a part of the International Guest Society Poster Section which will be displayed throughout the ASSH Annual Meeting, October 7-9, 2010.
Background
A Poster Presentation is the best format for presenting scientific material – either laboratory or clinical – where an active exchange between the author and the attendee is desired. Poster displays are the perfect medium for unusual or multiple clinical case presentations. The display should be prepared with photographs and laboratory information and encourage the exchange of findings and treatment results. Any aspect of hand care may be presented in a poster exhibit.
Abstract Content
-
Poster Abstracts should be 400 words or less and must briefly state the hypothesis of the study, describe the materials and/or methods used, report the results, as well as the statistical treatment accorded the data and summarize the research findings. The summary should be listed as a series of bulleted statements that indicate the study’s significance, value and relevance in relation to existing knowledge on the topic. Each abstract MUST include the following section labels within the abstract text: Hypothesis, Methods, Results, and Summary Points. The summary should be listed as 3-4 bullet-points.
-
You may submit up to two graphics (such as tables, charts or jpeg photos) to accompany your abstract. Figure Legends should be included as a part of your graphic attachment. If accepted, your abstract and images will be printed in the Hand Society’s Abstract Book. All images should be of print quality with at least 300 PPI (pixels per inch) and preferably in black and white. NOTE: Each attachment should ONLY include one image.
-
NOTE: A total of six authors (including the primary/presenting author) can be listed on any abstract.
