2 days to Nairobi and 1 day returning. Pickup in Nairobi for hour drive to Kijabe. Airlines: KLM and BA with connection in Europe

2 operating rooms (used only for elective surgery),  Anesthesia: Excellent with well trained nurse anesthetists and one anesthesiologist

Teaching Opportunities

Yes. There are residents at BCCC as well as permanent staff who are eager to learn. There are also opportunities at the nearby Kijabe Medical Centre. If one stays longer, there is the possibility of teaching opportunities in Nairobi .

Accomodations

Furnished apartment near hospital sufficient for family with one or two children. Other accommodations possibly available if larger family. Will need to cook but food is readily available.

Summary

A crippled children's hospital that cares for children with all types of disabilities including burned hands and congenital anomalies. May visit game reserves on weekends.  Bethany is just across street from a large general hospital, Kijabe Medical Centre, with a large volume of emergency and elective orthopaedic and plastic surgery.
