Candidate Membership applications are processed on a quarterly basis, with submission deadlines on:
January 1 April 1 July 1 October 1
The Candidate Membership category is for physicians within three (3) years of completing an ACGME or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (“RCPSC”) accredited residency in orthopaedic, plastic or general surgery or an AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited osteopathic orthopaedic surgery residency; shall be engaged in an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited fellowship in hand surgery; or shall be within five (5) years of having completed an ACGME-accredited or RCPSC-accredited fellowship in hand surgery.
Candidate Membership in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand may be granted to any individual who meets the criteria set forth in the:

and who shares interest in and supports the purposes of the Society; abides by the ASSH Bylaws, the principles and ethics of the Society and other rules and regulations as the Society may adopt; and meets such additional criteria for each category of membership in the Society as the Council may from time to time establish.
