A recording of last week’s “Crash Course in Meaningful Use:  A Practical Guide for Hand Surgeons and Their Staff” is now available for purchase through the ASSH eLearning Portal. The 60 minute webinar, presented by Cheyenne Brinson, MBA, CPA, explains the components of Meaningful Use, and is especially geared to hand surgeons.  In addition to a recording of the webinar which includes the PPT presentation, a comprehensive resource guide for implementing Meaningful Use is included with the product. Join us for a dynamic program that will focus on common hand and wrist injuries in elite athletes.  This comprehensive course will cover diagnosis, treatment, therapy, dealing with 3rd parties (coaches, trainers, agents, media) and other issues regarding return to play.  Attendees will enjoy learning from an elite field of hand surgeons as well as from a trainer, a lawyer, an agent, a sports psychologis, and a professional athlete.  Decision making will be discussed at the professional, college, high school and recreational level.
 
Some of the topics to be covered include: scapholunate ligament injuries, central TFCC tear, ulnar impaction, scaphoid fractures, boutonnière deformity, pulley rupture, mallet finger, phalangeal fractures, PIP joint injuries, thumb ligament injuries, carpal fractures, wrist tendonitis, and ganglions and other bumps.  Participants are encouraged to submit cases in advance of the program which will be discussed by faculty onsite.

Don’t leave CME credits on the table (or your bookshelf) at the end of the year.  In each issue of the Journal of Hand Surgery, you’ll find articles with CME credits.  To claim credits, complete the test at the end of the article online and pay the activity fee. Listserv Hot Topic: Henry Buhl Auction at Sotheby's

 
This week, a member drew attention to "A Show of Hands: Photographs from the Collection of Henry Buhl," an upcoming auction at Sotheby's.  On December 12 and 13, Sotheby's will be auctioning a portion of Buhl's collection of hand images from such artists as Alfred Stieglitz, Man Ray, Dorthea Lange, and lesser-known names.  Proceeds will benefit the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless (ACE), Buhl's charity.  Learn more about the auction.
