Powerpoints and Questions - April 15
Learners expect the lectures to follow the handouts and they want to use the handout as a study guide. Nearly 75% of last year’s attendee’s preferred handouts in the form of slides. We are asking this year that, in lieu of handouts, each speaker submits their powerpoint presentation in advance of the meeting. We will convert these to handouts with 3 slides per page and notes sections to the right. This is necessary to allow our staff to create uniform handouts to be distributed electronically. Please do your best to have your final talks prepared in advance so that when we create handouts from your slides it will accurately follow your talks although we understand the compulsion to make small style changes up until the final night. If you would like to submit an additional outline style handout we will gladly incorporate this into the syllabus as well.
Evaluations also indicate learners like questions from past ASSH Self-Assessment exams incorporated into the lectures. This year, we ask that you provide us with a separate file with the questions you plan to use in your lecture AND with two test questions per lecture, NOT used in your lecture. The two questions not used in the lecture will be used for panel discussion and attendee pre/post testing. We will provide you with the last several years of In-training Exams (Self-Assessment) to extract questions. Please mark the correct answers.
You must stay on time with your lecture. You will not be allowed to run over. Ideally, plan to end 1 or 2 minutes early. We have had problems with this in the past although last year went fairly well. There is very little flexibility in a review course due to the breadth of the material covered. To this end, this year we request that test questions worked into your talks be uniformly placed at the conclusion of your lecture. Hopefully if on time then all will get to use their questions but if you are running short on time then no content will be missed but you may have to skip your questions.
To assist you in creating your presentation and questions, the ASSH is offering faculty the opportunity to download and review the Question/Discussion booklet from its Self-Assessment Exam activity from the past six years (2007-2012). Please feel free to select your Pre/Post-test questions directly from previous Self-Assessment Exam booklets. Any questions used in your presentation or handout should be properly referenced.
These PDFs are NOT to be shared with others who are not on faculty for this program.
