Call for 2018 Basic Science and Clinical Research Grants

The 2018 Call for Basic Science and Clinical Research grants is now open!  All topics related to hand and upper extremity will be considered.  New - designated funding is available this year for projects on peripheral nerve.  Projects within this area will receive special attention by the Research Management Committee.  Apply for a basic or clinical research grant by April 2, 2018 to be considered.

The 2018 Call for Basic Science and Clinical Research grants is now open.  Anyone may apply for an AFSH grant, including residents, fellows, PhD researchers, and non-ASSH Members.  However, all projects must include an ASSH Active Member as an investigator or sponsor/adviser on the project to be eligible.

The Basic Science & Clinical Research Grant Program is styled after the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Program (R21).  The R21 is intended to encourage exploratory and developmental research by providing support for the early and conceptual stages of project development.  All topics related to hand and upper extremity will be considered.

New! Special Emphasis Notice: 
The AFSH seeks to award a Special Emphasis grant in the following area: Peripheral Nerve.  Designated funding is available for the 2018 basic science or clinical research grant cycle and projects within this subject area will receive special attention by the Research Management Committee.  All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

Basic Science projects will be awarded a $20,000 one-year grant and Clinical Research projects will be awarded a $40,000 two-year grant.  The deadline to apply is April 2, 2018.
