Communication skills are important in the patient/physician relationship for both understanding and trust. This workshop presents a model of complete clinical care that consists of two roles for the clinician: the biomedical and the human communication roles. Making extensive use of videotaped cases, the program introduces a conceptual model that makes the utilization of communication skills within the normal practice setting effective and possible.
Objectives:
- Integrate communication skills discussed as an awareness of the clinician’s roles in physician/patient communication for optimal health care.
- Demonstrate clearer communication skills and utilize peer feedback for improvements.
- Apply communication skills to engage, empathize, educate and enlist patients.
