Scenic Marin County is considered one of the world’s most beautiful spots. From the spectacular Golden Gate Bridge north to Sonoma County, Marin has reserved over one third of its land for parks and preserved open space. The 550-acre Muir Woods boasts redwood trees hundreds of years old and hundreds of feet high. Ferns, wild flowers and redwood burls make the cathedral-like valley a fascinating environment for a self-guided walk.
Next, the Mediterranean atmosphere of Sausalito beckons you. This former fishing town and quaint artists’ colony is perched on the edge of the San Francisco Bay. Its winding streets are lined with fine restaurants, elegant shops and wonderful art, so take time to grab some lunch and explore Sausalito’s many boutiques. The stunning view of San Francisco from across the water makes for wonderful photographs, so bring your camera!
Note: This tour involves minimal walking on some uneven ground surfaces. Dress comfortably and in layers. A light jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are great accessories to bring along due to changing weather patterns. Comfortable outdoor shoes are recommended.
