This symposium provides a unique perspective on career accomplishments in the areas of radius fractures, tendon and nerve injury, basal joint instability and arthritis, and the effects of spinal cord injury.  Each presenter, telling a story of the evolution of his/her research over time, provides the clinical impact of their work and how their continuing research will lead to improvements in the care of hand surgery patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session the attendee will be to:
  • Discuss recent developments in the high impact areas of radius fracture, tendon injury, nerve injury, basal joint arthritis and spinal cord injury.
  • Describe how a research career evolves from the early stages of seed grants and pilot studies to the established stage of seminal accomplishments supported by extramural research.
